Overview
Oral health is important for each member of the family, no matter their age. At Orlando Advanced Dentists, we encourage parents to bring their children to the dentist at least twice a year for routine cleanings and exams. Our intention is to give your child a fun and stress-free trip to our friendly Lake Mary, FL office. This can establish a good relationship with dentistry and allow them to have a positive association with going to the dentist that will last the rest of their life. During your child's dental visit, general dentist Dr. Patricia Roach will assess the development of their teeth, look for issues or areas of concern, and teach them how to take good care of their teeth and gums at home. To learn more about pediatric dentistry for your family, contact Orlando Advanced Dentists today and schedule a consultation with Dr. Roach and our friendly team.

Best Candidates
Children may be at risk for developing oral issues as soon as the teeth begin to erupt. Orlando Advanced Dentists can provide preventive options and treatments to help preserve your child's teeth and provide a good foundation for future oral health. Your son or daughter may have their baby (primary) teeth for several years, which will be replaced with permanent teeth as they develop so it is important to keep their teeth and gums in good health. You can help by scheduling appointments twice every year for exams and cleanings. During their appointments, Dr. Roach will screen for any developing issues, like cavities or a misaligned bite, and may recommend procedures, like sealants, fluoride treatments, or orthodontics to help protect their oral health and minimize the risk of future dental issues.
What to Expect
A range of oral issues can be addressed at your child's dental visit. Generally, their visit will consist of a dental examination and a dental cleaning. After a cleaning, a fluoride treatment may also be suggested to strengthen and help protect the teeth while they are developing. In addition, sealants are often recommended to minimize the risk of tooth decay (cavities). Using her advanced training and experience in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Roach can also correct teeth that have signs of decay or those that are chipped, damaged, or broken. When your child is a preteen or teenager, Dr. Roach might recommend orthodontic treatment to straighten their teeth, which may improve oral function and prevent dental problems later in life.
Follow-Up
If Dr. Roach detects a problem during your child's dental examination or cleaning, you may want to schedule a follow-up appointment for treatment. After the exam, Dr. Roach will talk to you and your child about the most important steps in an oral hygiene routine: daily brushing and flossing. She and our team will also demonstrate techniques on the correct way to brush and floss to keep the teeth and gums as healthy as possible.
